Library Service:
◎ Borrowing service:
Students can borrow books at the reception desks on the respective floors. Books on natural science are to be found on the second floor of the library building, whereas books on Social Science are located on the fourth floor. You can use the computers next to the reception desks to find the book you want to borrow.
◎ Reading Service:
On the fifth floor of the library there is a periodical reading room, where you can read periodicals which are not allowed to be carried out of the library.
On the third floor of the library there is an electronic reading room which is completely computerized and digitized. It contains millions of journals in Chinese and foreign languages.
◎ Notes:
1. All of the books in the library are available for international students.
2. There are English medicine books in the natural science area on the second floor, and some English medicine journals in the periodical reading room on the fifth floor. These English books and journals can only be read in the library itself and are not allowed to be carried out nor borrowed.
3. In order to enter the library and make use of all its services you should obtain a LMU library card. Regulations:
1. The College of International Education registers the library cards for freshmen at the beginning of every new academic year. Each library card costs 10 RMB. You will make a deposit of 100 RMB, which you will get back at the end of your studies in LMU.
2. You can apply for the library card by yourself with your student's ID card and a recommendation letter from the College of International Education .
3. The library card can only be used by its owner. If the card is used by others, it will be cancelled for two months.
4. You can borrow 5 books at a time and keep them for 30 days. If you want to keep them longer, you have to go to the library the get a renewal before the expiry date. The overdue fine is 0.1 RMB a book a day.
5. You are required to take care of the books. At the time of borrowing, you should check the books. If the books are dirty or deformed, you should ask the librarian to mark the deformed part. Otherwise, you may be the one to be punished for the condition of the book. If you lose a book, you have to compensate for it. The compensation will be deducted from the deposit and an additional payment will be asked if the deposit turns out not to cover the cost price of the book.
6. The reference books are forbidden to be carried out, but you can read it in the reading room.
7. You must return all the books borrowed from the library and the library card before you leave LMU. Then the 100 RMB deposit will be returned to you.
8. All students must obey the library regulations. Students are required to keep silence and order. Loud noises, smoking and throwing litter are forbidden.
